DownloadThe influence of the stabilization process on the mechanical properties of a honeycomb structure is analyzed to improve protection against explosions.
The context and the targeted objectives are :
the study on physical protection against explosive loads, improving knowledge on the sandwich coating, with the aim of reducing the transmitted load impulse and improving the absorbers database.
Materials and experimental configuration :
metal bees nest with various dimensions (75 × 75 mm, height of 20 to 100 mm).
Stabilization with aluminum leaves and epoxy adhesive.
Quasi-static tests carried out with an inner machine.
Experimental and digital results :
low dispersion of results (<5%) for stress of plasticity.
Successful digital modeling for the honeycomb in stabilized and non -stabilized configuration.
Comparison of compression behaviors between the two typologies of honeycomb.
Analysis of material parameters :
Influence of the stabilization process: increase in tray stress and plasticity, but reduction of densification deformation.
The height of the honeycomb influences the deformation of densification and tenacity.
Conclusion :
Additional tests to measure the compression module must be carried out.
Future work on the influence of the topology of honeycomb structures.
Dynamic tests, driven by explosives, provided with a shock tube device.
